My crochet project - Afghan blanket

I can't believe that  it's 6 months today when I went to my tennis lesson and came home with a ruptured Achilles tendon!  I guess I should celebrate or something, because I am lucky to be in good health and am back to work.  I'm still walking with a little limp, usually first thing in the morning when everything is a little stiff and I still haven't mastered coming down stairs "the normal way" - I tend to turn my foot to the side.  My physical therapy sessions dried up, because my insurance wouldn't cover any more, but I have all the stretching and exercises committed to memory and I try to continue with them on a daily basis.  The scar has healed up nicely after all, but I doubt that it will ever disappear - thank goodness I don't earn my living as a foot model!

So, during my 4 to 5 month convalescence, guess what I was doing?  My mother taught me to knit and crochet when I was quite young and I've found it to be another satisfying, creative outlet.  This is my fourth blanket so far, having made one for each of my daughters (heirlooms, or something to remember me by) and one for myself.  I'm quite proud of my latest creation because the colors are so pretty.

Although it may look complicated, I assure you it's not!  This blanket is made up of 70 Granny squares, all sewn together.  As you can see, there's no rhyme or reason to the color choices, it's so personal.  If you'd like the pattern for the crochet Granny square, please let me know.  Once you get started, it's hard to stop and if you like to crochet at night, it stops you from reaching for the chips.........
